As the free to play bandwagon rolls on, Crytek have now announced that all future games from the studio will adopt a F2P model:
“Right now we are in the transitional phase of our company, transitioning from packaged goods games into an entirely free-to-play experience.
“What this entails is that our future, all the new games that we’re working on, as well new projects, new platforms and technologies, are designed around free-to-play and online, with the highest quality development.”
This sounds a bit risky to me. Crytek have traditionally made big budget, intense shooters. Their preliminary F2P offering, Warface, has not even gone live yet and they are changing all of their future titles to this model? Risky.
Clearly the hype train for F2P rolls on.
